Men who claim they'd never break under torture are as naive as they are boring. The ability of pain to reduce people to dishrags is well understood by those with chronic illnesses. It was six hours before I surrendered and drove to the ER, and by that point if the doctor had told me the only treatment was a bullet through the forehead I'd have accepted it gratefully.
