The patronizing terms "young man" and "young lady" lack symmetry. If one calls a male child "young man", his sister should properly be "young woman", whereas if you call her "young lady" her brother should be "young gentleman".
Of course what they mean by each of these exasperated terms is "wretched little asshole"...
