She loved Calvin & Hobbes. Probably, I think, it was their childhood loyalty to each other which so captured her heart.

She loved me, too, and so she gave me a Calvin & Hobbes t-shirt. Calvin & Hobbes, short and tall, hugging each other from their childhood hearts, as she hugged me, short and tall, from our grown-up hearts.

I'm wearing it now.
