Loves to be groomed.
Sits patiently beneath the brush, purring, turning her head or body perfectly to make my reach easier.
Maybe it's a memory of her mother's love, when she was a baby.
I dunno. I wonder whether all mammals have a need to feel attractive.
I remember hearing a story about an intelligent primate who was taught to communicate with sign language. When asked about a potential mate, she said he was ugly.
And I remember knowing dogs who were so embarrassed by hyper-styled coat cuts that they refused to leave the house.
When we're finished she looks many years younger. You'd never know what an old girl she really is. Purring like a kitten, curled softly in my lap.
