Her sister's apartment.

Sister drained and sleeping, face down on her unmade futon-bed. Tall boy, black hair, dazed-looking, sits listening to her breathe. Eyelids lined with red, fluttering, as he stares into the ceiling.

Their mother has searched her room at home, finding letters and photos. Letters: nonchalantly reporting chlamydia. Photos: polaroids of her, and of her new boyfriend, nude, "below the waist", and having oral sex.

Sister feels betrayed. She spreads false stories, for instance that sister and the tall boy "have something going." Sister is acutely sensitive, and these hurtful acts are like the weight of crushing stones burying her alive.

Tall boy feels numb. He doesn't care about the stories. Only about the pictures.

The walls recede into empty black. The sole sound is of sister's slow, deep breaths, echoing through great distance.
