November 26, 2004. Polihale, Kauai.

The western side of Kauai is undeveloped, much to one's happy surprise. Polihale State Beach runs 17 miles without a single condo; you'd think it would be Waikiki North. The beach ends where the stunning Na Pali Coast begins: the ancient jumping-off point for spirits of the dead, bound for Hawaiiki.
