I'd forgotten much of it.

Call throughout the day, many times a day, hang up angrily. For not sounding enthusiastic enough, for some random inflection of voice, for saying it was a bad moment. Infantile. Controlling. Crippling.

I romanticized the memory. That it was my fault for breaking up when I didn't truly mean to.

But I was right to break up. She was toxic. She's been a vampire all her life. My only wrong was the fantasy that she'd change as the result of being dumped.
