Dinner with colleagues. Fancy. But there's an undercurrent of tension. People carry radios, communicating privately; you've come on short notice and are embarrassed by your wild hair. There's a shouting match with some consultants drinking champagne. At the banquet table you're happy to find kids to talk with. You exchange notes about your radios; at least that's interesting.
