A blood clot in her lung caused by cigarette smoke broke free as blood clots do and triggered a heart attack that could have been fatal.

She remembers it differently. Her memory is that her heart attack was caused by working too strenuously in the back yard.

This is the interesting and insidious thing about addiction. It has its own voice. Continually whispering, if left unchallenged it'll eventually overpower its host's.
