Smoking in the doorway. A silhouette: strong girl, athlete: a tattooed ass-kicker in hoodie and bandana.

Turn: face in the light. Raccoon eyes, mascara running. Gray skin, literally, gray. Physical pain, emotional pain. A young face, lovely, yet stricken by long, slow years of poison.

Pain. Painful. To love someone so destructive, to herself and to those near her.
