Easy Rider solidified my estrangement from both family and dominant culture. That there's a split between rural and urban America mirroring the split between generations. That there's a restlessness and willingness to experiment which the older rural culture wants to repress, violently and definitively. Still the American divide today. There were sides to choose, and I did, easily and with complete commitment.
Late nights, middles of the nights, thirteen inches in black and white, with headphones, letting the breadwinner sleep.
