December 14, 2019:

Medieval darkness days on end, the longest without power in my lifetime.

I drive miles to continue work, where all the cafés are filled with people like me, electricity refugees, so that I have to find public outlets in malls to recharge my devices, where security guards look at me suspiciously and I glower at them in return.

The stated motive is safety from high wind fire hazard, but, there's no wind in my area. To the contrary, not a single leaf stirs. The stillness is profound, even eerie. I think, probably with everyone else, This is to demonstrate our dependency.

I don't know, I don't care, it's all the same. Struggle, complete my projects, watch the money dwindle. Where not just me but the entire world winds down for lack of juice.
