Setback, disappointment, depression. Where depression is very emphatically the inward-turned anger over setback and disappointment.
Set-up to fail. Thrown under the bus. Not my phrases, but those of the HR consultant hired in part to keep us all sane.
Perhaps surprisingly, it was good to have her understanding. Where talking it out felt at least somewhat like release.
