The Enneads are structured (by their editor Porphyry) as ritual, ascending from the lowest, sensible plain of emanation through the levels of hypostasis upward to The One in the same journey a Magus takes through the grades of initiation. There's a reason for this. The Enneads are the main intellectual or theoretical source for the Western ritual magic tradition.
