The Enneads are structured (by their editor Porphyry) as ritual, ascending from the lowest, sensible plain of emanation through the levels of hypostasis to The One in the same journey a Magus takes through the grades of initiation. There's a reason for this. The Enneads are the main intellectual or theoretical source for the Western ritual magic tradition.
