In the photos no-one looks happy.
He wanted a boat. Why? There's no way for me to judge, but my guess would be incompetent blue-collar attempt at middle-class posturing.
She did not. Why not? Still no way to say, but now my guess would be anxiety regarding champagne living on a beer budget. Combined with evident disdain for the couple who went halfsies with them to purchase the thing.
There then they are, aboard their cabin cruiser, afloat atop what I strongly suspect to be the Salton Sea, at the very tail end of the 1950s. All of them unhappy.
