My little bedroom.
A single bed, Sears; two combination cabinets with bookshelves, Sears. I'm working in La Jolla, reading reading reading reading. The bookshelves hold Zola, Balzac, Joyce, Perry Anderson, Marx, Freud, Althusser, Lenin, Braudel, Kafka. The bed holds me, because there's nowhere else to sit.
In guitar stands: 1974 Telecaster Thinline, blonde, with the Seth Lover humbuckers; another, black; an early '70s Les Paul Deluxe with the mini humbuckers, coffee burst; a jumbo Japanese 6-string called a "Wilson" which sounds fabulous. On the floor, a Yamaha RX-11 drum machine and RX-21L percussion machine; a Tascam 244 "Portastudio" and 234 "Syncaset", used for reduction mixes aka "track bouncing"; a DBX 163x compressor; many of the Boss half-rack effects units. The mic is an AKG 330BT. My first studio, where I wrote and recorded good songs, some very strong songs, which still sound good today. I transferred several to digital recently.
My bigass house. Three bedrooms, two car garage, storage. One whole room of books, with more books in the bedroom. One whole room of recording studio, with superb instruments, world-class microphones and outboard.
Honestly the 244 was more fun. And I like its sound.
